Call For Artists
This is a call for artists who live, work or are affiliated with the art community in Lexington to participate in the Fourth Annual Lexington Open Studios, which will take place on May 19 & 20, 2012, 11-5 PM. Building on the past three years of success, Lexington affiliated artists are invited to open their studios. There will be some shared community space in Lexington center on a first-come first-serve basis for an additional cost.. The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society will have public space available for Society members. We encourage those with their own studio space to invite others to join with them. (Open Studio visitors often favor clusters of artists in one space for traveling convenience.) Deadline for registration is March 1, 2012.

This year there is a simple 3-step online process to register:

Complete the New Online Registration Form. The form can be submitted to us without mailing any paper! If you have friends who might want to participate in Open Studios, but do not have internet access paper application forms can be obtained at Munroe Center for the Arts or by calling Judith Cooper (617 794-7524) or Beverly Gomes (781 652-0179).   Fill out the registration form online:

Pay Registration Fee Online. Registration cost to take part in this event is $40 per participant or listing for any applications completed by March 1, 2012. Any application that is not completed before March 1 will incur an additional $25 late fee. The costs cover promotion, regional advertising and inclusion of your studio on the map of events being distributed to more than 13,000 Lexington homes. If multiple artists share a space, you may either register individually or together (if together, one $40 fee is shared). If you cannot pay the fee online, you may mail a check payable to “Lexington Artists Open Studios” to Judith Cooper, 9 Jean Road, Lexington, MA 02421.
Please select your fee from the drop-down menu and then click "Add to Cart":

Email Images of Your Work to lexingtonopenstudios@gmail.com. We require at least 1 digital image of your work. Images will be used for a looping slide show of the work of participating artists at Lexington's Cary Memorial Library in the weeks leading up to the Open Studio event. They will also be displayed on our web site and on the map of events. Artists are encouraged to submit up to three digital images saved in jpg format at 300 dpi, 1200 pixels on the widest dimension. Once images are sized properly the image file should be “saved as” using your last name, first initial, the number 1, 2 or 3 and the year 2012.
Example: Smith_K_1_2012.jpg.
All images should be emailed to: lexingtonopenstudios@gmail.com

Volunteer to Ensure Open Studios is a Success

Lexington Open Studios is an all volunteer effort. Team leads have been meeting monthly since September 2011 to coordinate all the planning required to execute the event. We ask that each artist participant make at least a small contribution of time to help us meet our goal of having an even more successful event this year. You are invited to attend any Lexington Open Studios meetings to discuss PR, design, logistics, how to promote our work, and how to have a good time together. Once you’ve sent us your registration or request for more information, and we have your email address, we’ll include you in our notices of meetings.

Thank you! We look forward to this shared experience.
