Call For Artists
This is a call for artist participation in the Third Annual Lexington Open Studios, which will take place on May 21 and 22, 2011, 11-5 PM. Building on the past two years of success, Lexington affiliated artists are invited to participate by opening their studios. For those lacking a studio in town, we may be able to find space in another studio or in our first-come, first-served Community Space. Artists are also encouraged to join the planning team and be a part of a growing community of Lexington artists.

Who can participate:
If you live, work or are affiliated with the art community in Lexington, please plan on participating.

Registration fees, publicity, and space:
Registration cost to take part in this event is $35 per participant or listing. The fee covers regional advertising and inclusion of your studio on the map of events being distributed to more than 13,000 Lexington homes. If multiple artists share a space, you may either register individually or together (if together, one $35 fee is shared). There will be limited shared community space at the Lexington Depot in Lexington center on a first-come first-serve basis for an additional cost, based on equal division by participants of the total cost for use of the space; each individual's cost is expected to range between $25.00 to $50.00. The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society will have public space available for Society members. We encourage those with their own studio space to invite others to join with them. (Open Studio visitors often favor clusters of artists in one space for traveling convenience.)

Downloading Registration Form and deadline:
Please click here to download the 2011 Registration Form. Your completed form must be accompanied by a CD with images of your work, as described below (not for judging, but for public relations). The deadline for submitting the completed form for this event is March 1, 2011.

Submitting slides of your work:
We will have a looping slide show of the work of participating artists at Lexington's Cary Memorial Library in the weeks leading up to the Open Studio event. Images will also be displayed on our web site, as it develops. Please submit up to three digital images (jpegs) of your work on a CD along with your registration form. Images will be included in both the slide show and on the web site. Specifications for digital images will be posted on the website soon.

PARTICIPATE IN PLANNING!

Members of Lexington Open Studios meet monthly to discuss PR, design, logistics, how to promote our work, and how to have a good time together. Once you’ve sent us your registration or request for more information, and we have your email address, we’ll include you in our notices of meetings.

Thank you! We look forward to this shared experience.
